1.       Write a diary entry (or progress report) about the following prompt:

PROMPT: It is the night before your major operation.  You are having an operation on your brain, similar to Charlie’s, that will make you smarter than Albert Einstein!  Write a diary entry about the thoughts going through your mind and the feelings that you are experiencing the night before your major operation.

2.       Write a persuasive letter about the following one of the following prompts:
PROMPT 1: Write a letter to a family member, convincing them to have this operation.  What are the benefits?   Why do you want this family member to have the operation on their brain?  Remember, you must persuade your family member.  Give at least 3 reasons supporting the fact that this family member SHOULD have this operation.
PROMPT 2: Write a letter to a family member, convincing them NOT to have this operation.  They just told you that they are very excited about having this brain operation.  Now, you must persuade them NOT to have this operation.  What are the drawbacks of such a procedure?  Why do you feel it is not a good idea?  Give at least 3 reasons supporting the fact that this family member should NOT have this operation.
3.        Write a story about Charlie’s childhood OR a scene from Charlie’s childhood.  Think about his interaction with his family, his likes and dislikes, his frustrations, his feelings, etc.
