"You know that saying, 'birds of feather flock together?' That's how I felt." Lily and August have an intimate bonding moment, by having a simple, steriotipical type of conversation. They talk about their favorite colors and desserts, and it seems that they have a lot in common. Lily begins to feel at home and loved. August begins to feel like a mother and the honey house is a home.
ReplyDeleteI admit...i'm a chocoholic. My favorite dessert must be a thing called a "chocolate lava cake." Theres many variations on the name but thats what I typically call it. Its basically a small chocolate cake filled with melted chocolate and served with vanilla ice cream. DELICIOUS.
Lily and August’s favorite dessert is peanuts in a Coke bottle. August stated that it was their favorite dessert which makes a person sound more attached to another having more interests in common. They made Rosaleen change her cobbler dessert into the coke with peanuts, it brings and shows teamwork amongst August and Lily. During the time they are consuming the dessert, Lily and August chat and also have their share of laughs. Laughing is always good because it shows people are bonding and having a good time, for August it means gaining more confidence after May's suicide. My favorite dessert is cookies n' cream ice cream topped with whip cream, hot fudge, m&m's, and a nice cherry on top. It always brings a soothing taste and feeling into my body and brings a conversation of desserts to the family table.

ReplyDelete“…August, June, and Rosaleen, dusted with flour, baking these small one- layer cakes the size of honey buns. They were singing while they worked, singing like Supremes, like the Marvelettes, like the Crystals wiggling their butts to ‘Da Doo Ron Ron,’”- real family bonding. Lily gets even closer emotionally to the sisters and to Zack. She has an amazing family unit that loves and cares for her very much. With the knowledge of them always being there Lily can tackle the world and although still faces the pain of the mysteries and truths of her mother, has many people that she can confide in. This gives her a boost of self-confidence and a larger sense of what a family really is.
“It’s Lily’s and my favorite dessert,”- although I do not share Lily and Augusts’ favorite dessert I really do have a big sweet tooth. I absolutely adore crumb cake. But not just any kind of crumb cake- Muller’s Bakery, a small bakery in Bay Head NJ, has the most amazing crumb cake. It goes straight from the oven to your mouth. You can taste the gooey sugar coated on the top tease your taste buds. I can honestly state that I would travel to Bay Head just to have a bite of Muller’s crumb cake and watch the sun fall on the waves.
When Lily and August share their favorite dessert together they become closer and have a new found relationship. It's no longer host and guess, it's more like friend and friend. Lily has never really had a friend before, so having August has her self-confidence rising through the roof. And now that she has something in common with August, Lily feels closer to her than ever. August says, "Coke and peanuts are Lily's and my favorite dessert!" She feels like she is more part of the family. My favorite dessert is hot apple pie and ice cold vanilla icecream. I don't get to have it often though because my mom doesn't make pie and she won't let me learn how to make it because she's very affraid that I will make too often. It is something I would do. So, I only get to have it when we go out to eat. And even then my mom most likely won't let me order it. But that's okay because it's even better when it's a treat.
ReplyDeleteThe bonding in chapter 11 aids Lily’s self confidence and sense of family because of the special event Mary Day. Mary day was a big event for the Boatwright’s and their Lady of Chains. It was the Feast of the Assumption. It was a big day for them and it was a lot to plan and there was a lot to be done. The bonding between the Boatwright’s and the gathering of the Daughters made Lily more confident and gave her a better sense of family. Lily has more self confidence knowing that she is starting to be a part of this family. In my opinion, Lily is starting to become more open to this family. Lily has not told August about her mother but from the beginning of the novel to now she has changed. In the beginning, Lily needed to wait for the right time to tell about her mother. Finally, as the novel progresses Lily feels more comfortable around them and feels the need to tell August as soon as she can about her mother she feels like it is time. Lily gains a sense of family when the Daughters of Mary, August, June, Rosaleen, Zach, Neil, and Otis. At that point, she says, “I love this place with my whole heart.” I feel like that particular moment meant a lot to Lily knowing that everyone that surrounded her loved her for who she was. I feel like the moment when they passed around and ate Mary’s honey cakes sparked family to Lily. When June says, “I’m sorry for being hard on you when you first got here,” to Lily it made Lily happy. It made her feel like she was part of the family. Mary’s day aided Lily’s self confidence and sense of family.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert would have to be cheesecake. I love cheesecake from the Cheese Cake Factory. On special occasions, my mom and dad would take me out for cheesecake because I love it so much. It can make me feel jubilant when I am sad. It’s full of sweetness and it can instantly put a smile on my face. My all time favorite dessert is cheesecake because the taste stays in your mouth and I love it!
August and Lily's favorite dessert is peanuts in Coke. They both enjoy it together. This bonding aids Lily's self-confidence and sense of family. Lily starts to feels like part of the Boatwright's family. One time, Lily thinks about if she was sent to a girls' prison camp in Florida. She says, "I would be down there suffocating and never see August again." This shows that she loves August very much and August is like her family now.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is fruit salad. It has sliced melons, sliced bananas and grapes. Sugar and water is added on it and that makes the syrup. I personally think that it's the best dessert ever. My whole family loves it and it's not too unhealthy too.
In chapter 11, the bonding aids Lily's self-confidence and sense of family.
In these chapters Lily is bonding with August. Lily needs this. All of her life shes been yelled at and kneeling on grits but now she actually has someone she can talk to. She can talk about her feelings, her mother, and even Zach.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite desserts are cinnamon buns. I always eat them when I'm with my whole family. We open them up and un-swirl the bun and eat it peace by peace. I love doing this because it gives me time to bond with my family.
Ever since Lily arrived at the Boatwrights' house, August has tried to make her feel as much at home as possible. August and Lily bonded almost right away as soon as Lily and Rosaleen arrived. In Chapter 11, this bond seems to grow stronger. One way they bond is over liking the same snack. "'What the heck is this?' said June.
ReplyDelete'It's Lily's and my favorite dessert,' August told her, smiling over at me." Liking the same food proves that August and Lily have something in common. Lily also participates in Mary Day for the first time, and shares the experiences of August and the other Daughters of Mary. This makes Lily feel more like she is one of them.
My favorite dessert is soft chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream. I also like brownie sundaes and banana splits. I love ice cream in general!
When Lily found out that June and her bothe love to have peanuts in their coke after dinner she was thrilled. She had a great sense of confidence from then on because from thinking that someone "June" doesnt like her to knowing that they have much in common, and to finding out that the person "June" actually likes her is a great feeling. Lily started to think that she finally found a real family because of the kindness and lovingness of the Boatwright sisters, and the caring from the heart.
ReplyDeleteWell I absolutely love dessert. Its hard to find a favorite because there are just so many delicious and filling desserts that I love, but the one that I like to eat the most is a hot fudge sunday with chocolate icecream, lots of hot fudge, and brownies to go along with it. Yes, I am a chocolate hound, but what can I say I just love it.
In chapter eleven Lily’s self-confidence and sense of family is aided by the bonding because for once in her life she is feeling love. Since Lily’s mother left and then died in the incident she has had no comforting family other than Rosaleen her hired nanny. Of course Rosaleen is much more than a nanny now, but Lily still grew up with a empty whole inside her because she did grow up with love from a mother. She did not even receive love from the father she saw everyday; she received punishment and work to be complete. The quote, “It’s Lily’s and my favorite dessert,” shows that Lily did have a family not by blood, but by love alone in the Boatwright family. They took her a Rosaleen in knowing all the lies, or most of them anyway. Lily’s self-confidence was boosted by August and how she took in to account what Lily told her. She cared enough to listen to Lily’s likes and dislikes, she it to her advantage and cheered her up. Lily’s sense of family is aided by this dessert of peanuts in coke because it shows August loves Lily, wants to help Lily get over the truth about her mother, and she does something that is for her knowing it will make a difference.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is a delicious ice cream sundae made by myself. First, I would get my favorite ice cream which ranges from coffee, coffee chip, jamoca, jamoca chip, mocha, and mocha chip. The ice cream for me is any coffee type ice cream. I would put a couple scoops into my special ice cream sundae bowls which happen to look like an ice cream cone with purple and pink ice cream. Next, I would take one I my sisters homemade chocolate chip cookies, break it n half a place it in two places on the ice cream. Then I would take my favorite plain candy, butterscotch chips and place a few pieces on. Finally, the whole product would be covered with hot fudge and drizzled with butterscotch syrup. Delicious, it taste fantastic, but sadly I cannot eat those all the time!
The bonding in chapter 11 bonds Lily's confidence and sence of family becuase she never really had one and now she does. Even though someone in her new family died she still has everyone else. Lily became very close with the boatwrights now becuase she has been living with them for a such a long time. In that period of time she really got to know them and they really are like her real family. This is good for her becuase she never really had a family becuase T.Ray is such a bad dad and her mom died when she was so little so she never got to experience having a real family and she finally has the chance to with the Boatwrights. My favorite dessert is a cannoli. A cannoli has always been my favorite dessert whenever i go out to dinner and able to get a dessert i will get this. They are so sweet and creamy i love them, that is is why cannolis are my favorite dessert.
ReplyDeleteIn chapter 11, August and Lily and share a common interest. Peanuts in Coke. Doesn't sound repulsive, just different, so I tried it actually. I would say that it wasn't weird tasting and swallowable, but if I did, then I would be lying. I personally don't like it, but, anyways...back to the prompt.
ReplyDeleteThe whole atmosphere was mournful and depressing, so to lighten the mood, and break the ice,August decided to bring out peanuts and coke for dessert. This gives Lily self-confidence because it shows her that August will be there for her, even when things go wrong and hectic. This also gives Lily a sign that August is ready, and able to listen to what Lily has to say. It gives Lily a sense of a family as well because it shows that August cares, and wants to bond.
My favorite dessert is a cupcake. I like chocolate, with blue icing, and don't go light on the sprinkles, yes please! Simple, and also they are mini cakes! (:

Week 4, Option 2
In chapter 11, bonding between Lily and the Daughters of Mary was very great for Lily. The day centered around the Mary Day celebration. The sisters celebrated this day every August for 15 years. Mary Day is celebrated on the Feast of the Assumption. May is the one who started calling this day, Mary Day to remember their Lady in Chains. The celebration is two days long and is everyone’s favorite time of the year. Decorations were everywhere throughout the house of the sister’s. Lily has a great time and gets to know all the people even better than she had before. Although she is white, everyone accepts her and they are happy that she is there. On page 225, she said to herself, “I love this place with my whole heart.” Her self-confidence and sense of family was boosted when the Daughters “fussed” over her. They said she smelled good and her hair looked really nice. One of the ladies wanted to make her a hat. All of this made her feel really good. During the ceremony, everyone fed each other honey cakes which made Lily feel like her family was around her. On page 226, she says, “I don’t know what got to me about it, but for some reason that circle of feeding made me feel better about the world.
In this chapter, Lily and August’s favorite dessert were peanuts in coke. My favorite desert is apple pie and cherry pie. These two items are always very delicious and feel like they are always fresh. Cherries are one of my favorite fruits so, I tried them in a pie and I am obsessed with it. Also, apple pie is another one of my favorite fruits. When I eat these two items, they make me feel the same when Lily did when she was with the Daughters of Mary. Pie is a nice comfort dessert and always cheers me up.
Lily has been welcomed but not accepted. She has a personal connection with August because she has taken her in under her wing. Lily never had a connection with June. When August says "It's Lily's and my favorite dessert," is when Lily truly feels like a part of their family. It makes her more self confident when she is involved in their everyday life.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is a vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. I eat it to relieve stress and for a little snack before bed. It's my comfort food.
In chapter 11, the bonding between Lily, the Calender sisters, along with Zach aids self-confidence and sense of family. Lily feels more at home, or at least more like what home should have been. When the Calender sisters, Rosaleen, and Lily were preparing for Mary's day, Lily started to feel even closer to them. They were working together to get the fantastic result for Mary's day. The bonding makes Lily seem like August and June are her actual sisters.
ReplyDeleteLily's favorite dessert is peanuts in a coke bottle, which is the same as August's. My favorite dessert is a brownie with mint chocolate chip ice cream on top with gummy bears and mangoes on top of that. This is my favorite because it mixes my favorite fruit, my favorite ice cream, my favorite bakery item, with my favorite candy.
The bonding between Lily and August was nice to read about because I felt that the tension between them was finally resolved and the sense of family was beginning to truly grow. When Lily and August ate their favorite dessert at dinner, you could tell Lily’s self-confidence had risen and she was proud to share a dessert between her and one of the Boatwright’s that nobody else was familiar with. “It’s Lily’s and my favorite dessert,” August had replied when June questioned “what the heck they were eating”. Even the little things like sharing a favorite snack between people can make the sense of family jump from one level to a whole other. It’s the little things in life that counts, that’s for sure.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is definitely chocolate mousse. Wherever I go, I search the menus for this one dessert, and if they have it you can bet I’ll be ordering it. The chocolate is whipped to perfection and the taste is out of this world. If I ever found someone who liked chocolate mousse just as much as I do, I would feel a greater connection between that person. As silly as it seems, little things like food, grab my interest. I know exactly how Lily felt when she felt closer to August just because they shared an interest in coke and peanuts.
In chapter eleven of The Secret Life of Bees, there is a lot of bonding between August, June, Rosaleen, and Lily. The bonding that goes on really aids Lily’s self-confidence and sense of family. This is because Lily never really had a family to bond with. The events that occur in chapter eleven really show Lily that there can be happiness. It also shows her that family isn’t all about being abused and punished, and you can have happiness.
ReplyDeleteIn this novel, two of the characters favorite desserts are coke and peanuts. My favorite dessert is vanilla ice cream and the tangy candy nerds. This is my favorite dessert for so many reasons. First, I have always loved vanilla ice cream ever since I was a kid it has been my favorite type of ice cream. Also, I have always loved nerds. I never thought of mixing the two together until one day I saw the option of a topping as nerds at Dairy Queen. I decided to try it and came to love it. Ever since that one night at Dairy Queen, vanilla ice cream and nerds have been my favorite dessert.
The bonding is very good chapter 11. Lily is acting like she is part of the family now. She is acting like this because the Boatwrights accepted them as her family. My favorite dessert is chocolate lava cake. This is because i love the way the chocolate pours out of the cake. It reminds me of myself because i'm always pouring out goodness from my heart to people.
ReplyDeleteThe bonding in chapter 11 aids Lily's self confidence and sense of family togetherness because August and Lily got to share something that they both love, but might seem strange and even disgusting to other people. Just as Rosaleen says, "I wanted to make a cobbler,... but August said it was gonna be Cokes and peanuts. [She said cokes and peanuts the way someone might say 'snot and boogers']". Other people not liking the special food makes that mutual liking even more unique. It makes Lily feel special and normal, instead of feeling out of place and strange when she was back in her home town. My favorite desert is cantaloupe. I've been eating cantaloupe ever since I was just an infant, and will often eat large quantities of cantaloupe that might make another person feel sick to his or her stomach. Sometimes I will stop eating after about two or even three cantaloupes if I am really hungry.
ReplyDeleteLily has been with the Boatwright’s for some time, throughout her visit she has become closer with all of the sisters. Lily hasn’t been close with her father and lost her mother when she was young. Lily has never felt what it is like to be in a family. Now Lily is beginning to realize what love is shared when you are a part of a close family. When August serves Peanuts and Coke it reminds Lily that August care for her and that Lily can be considered part of the family. August says, “Its Lily’s and my favorite dessert,” August told her (June), smiling over at me. This scene shows even more that there is a special place in Augusts’ heart for Lily.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is chocolate ice cream. This is because my granddads favorite dessert is also chocolate ice cream and it is something we share and enjoy together. It makes me happy to eat it with him because it makes me feel more connected.
Lily has never had a strong bond or true family in her life. Her mother died when she was very young and T. Ray was by all standards a horrible father. Rosaleen was Lily’s best friend and the closest thing that she had to family. After a week of mourning for May’s death, everybody returns to their normal routines. One night after dinner, August serves her and and Lily’s favorite dessert, peanuts in a Coke bottle. During this scene, Lily feels like she fits in and feels like the people around her are truly family. Lily stared out the window and reflects upon how far she has come. She thinks about where she used to be and where she is now. Lily is finally happy with herself, flaws and all.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is passion fruit. It sounds very strange to people, but it is my favorite. Most people have never heard of passion fruit, and the ones that have usually hate the taste. I love it. When I was a baby, I lived in Holland. Passion fruits were very popular there and I loved them. My mom told me a story about my first birthday. She said that they got me a huge chocolate cake decorated with Winny the Pooh characters (my favorite show!). When it was time for dessert, my mom put a piece of cake in front of me but I began whining and saying “Passy, passy!”. Passy was what I called passion fruit. I was crying and screaming until my mom went and fed me a passion fruit. Since birth, I have always loved this fruit, strange as it sounds.
This bonding in chapter 11 aid's Lily's self-confidence and sense of family because now that they have something in common. this helps by now they can be closer together. Lily's favorite dessert id peanuts in a coke bottle and my favorite dessert is vanilla ice cream with a lot of hot fudge on top. that dessert is so yummy i could eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner.
ReplyDeleteLily's favorite dessert is peanuts in a coke bottle. Turns out, so is August's. This connection is more important than Lily thinks, for it is a clear bond connecting August, Deborah, and Lily together. It presents Lily, a white girl, as not so different from August, a black woman, and makes it clear that skin color does not matter in a friendship. And from the bonding in Chapter 11, no one knows this more than Lily Owens. It also helps boost her self-confidence, too. Lily now knows that yes, she is not so different from everyone else (although being different is "good"), and that yes, she CAN be accepted as a calendar sister, that of August and June and Zach and everyone else, she is similar to them, and thus at the same level as they.
ReplyDeleteOf course, my favorite dessert does not help boost my self-confidence, or sense of family, and it is most definitely NOT peanuts in a coke bottle. Like everyone else, it's ice cream. I am no different from swarms of thousands of americans who love ice cream. To be specific, it is FRENCH vanilla ice cream (preferably with sugar crystals inside) spread on top of cheesecake or apple pie. Yum yum yum yum yum
In Chapter 11 Lily finnaly sees how the boatwrite house is a house of love and happines. That everyone is always present in what is happining now not about next friday. At mary day she is able to bond with june also, when she explains how she is sorry for being hard on her at first. Next August has the same favorite dessert as here witch shows how they are similar. The last way you know they have bonded is the fact that Augest knows Lilys favorite clor becuse one of the ladys offers to make a hat for Lily and askes what color to make it. Augest ansered for her by saying blue. My favorite dessert is deffenitly the cannoli. its creamyness and texture is just so yummy I just love it so much.
ReplyDeleteLily has some bonding moments with August in chapter 11 that increase her self-confidence and sense of family. Lily was starting to feel as though she was part of the family. August was warm toward her, shared her favorite color, shared her favorite dessert, she made Lily feel excellent about herself. I believe what really affected Lily the most was when August made the hat color decision for her. "I love this place with my whole heart," says Lily, a prime example of her happiness. Lily liked having August connect with her on so many levels, even to the point where August was similar to a mother.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is also special because i share my liking for it with my mom. At Friendly's, theres an ice cream flavor called Hunka Chunka Peanut Butter Fudge. It is perfect because it has everything anyone could possible ask for in a flavor. With hot fudge, it's to die for.
The bonding between August and Lily in chapter 11 is very significant. Lily becomes very close to August and realizes that she is able to tell her anything. August is like the mother of Lily’s adulthood. I would say that Lily has gained confidence about telling August about her mother. Lily has also gained trust for August. She most likely trusts her with anything. If I were Lily, I would feel that I have become a part of the Boatwright’s family. They treat Lily as if she is their daughter. Lily lost part of her family when her mother died, and the other part when she left T.Ray. Now that she has been living with the calendar sisters for quite a while, she has a sense of family. Over the time she has been there, she has made a great relationship with August and she has a family. She has also gained the confidence of telling August about her mother.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is ice cream. Most people I know love ice cream as well. The one thing I like the most about it is that you can never get tired of it. There are so many different flavors that basically never run out. They are ongoing! I also like that it is always a conversation to have with many people because almost everyone loves ice cream!
In chapter 11 Lily and August eat the dessert and bond together. I think this aids her self confidence to know she is similar in some way to the other girls because she was feeling different and left out to this point because she was white. Also on Mary day Lily is able to experience the type of family atmosphere she is really in when they eat and decorate all together. My favorite dessert is hot chocolate cake. I like it because when the chocolate is hot is melts in your mouth. Its just so god the chocolate flavor and the nice hot texture makes warm chocolate cake the perfect dessert.
ReplyDeletethe bonding in chapter 11 aids lily's self-confidence and sense of family by making it obvious to lily that there are alot of people that love her such as zach, rosaleen, august, may and even though she may not act like it most of the time exept during the warm summer day when they both layed back in the grass so long that they created body imprints, june. it also shows lily that she doesnt need to search for her mother because her family is right there in tibourn. my favorite dessert is ben and jerrys cookie dough ice cream, i like it because the cookie dough tastes alot better than normal when frozen and surrounded by vanilla and chocolate.
ReplyDeleteIn Chapter 11, when Lily and August have their favorite dessert, Coke with peanuts in it, they have seemed to bonded a lot, even with June and Rosaleen. They were all a family, not by blood but by spirit. May's death seemed to bring everyone together, even June. This sense of family also gave Lily self confidence to ask August about her mother.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is ice cream. Any kind of ice cream really. Coffee, Chocolate, Vanilla, you name it, I'll probably try it. My favorite part is the cone, especially the cake cones. I'm not a fan of toppings though, only caramel and chocolate syrup/hot fudge. I love how ice cream is cold and gives you a brain freeze, it's very refreshing on a hot summer day. Those Dip-n-Dots ice cream dot things are cool too. It fansinates me how they make it. It is so cool! Ice cream by far beats cookies and cake for the top spot in my favorite dessert.
Throughout her life, Lily has never had a family or anyone to love. She lost her mother at age 4 and her father bossed her around and made her feel unloved. Now that Lily has been living with the Boatwrights for some time, she starting to really become part of the family. After not eating together for a couple of days, Rosaleen makes a dinner with candle light for everyone. This made everyones mood better because they were all together again. It made them bond. Lily felt loved by the others which made her feel good and have more self confidence. Lily also felt a sense of family on Mary Day. August had the Daughters of Mary over and Lunelle said she would even make Lily a hat. Now she would be like everyone else (this is what she wanted at school).
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is ice cream. It’s cold and refreshing. I love the way it melts in my mouth and helps me cool down on a hot night. My favorite flavor of ice cream is chocolate chip mint. I like the minty taste of the ice cream and melting the chocolate chips on my tongue.
After Lily finds out the harsh truth about her mother she feels very unloved and she doesn't know what real love or real family is. When August does this despite June's wishes to get a real dessert, it shows that August does love Lily more than Lily had though. After that Lily feels like she actually means something to someone and that she is loveable.
ReplyDeleteMy all time favorite dessert is Mint Oreo Blizzards from Dairy Queen, it is probably the best ice cream ever created in my opinion. My father and I share this dessert as our favorite just like August and Lily share coke with peanuts as theres.
Everyone has a favorite dessert. You cannot go through life not having a favorite dessert, it’s impossible. For instance, Lily and Augusts’ favorite dessert is peanuts in a Coke bottle. The bonding in chapter 11 aid’s Lily’s self-confidence because it gives her hope that she fits in and that people like her. It makes her happy, and everyone knows that when you are happy, your self-confidence is high. It also aid’s her sense of family because August shows her that she has something in common with her and it makes Lily feel closer, not just to August, but to the whole family. And it’s almost as if they have formed a new family. Personally, my favorite dessert is hot, fresh brownies with hot fudge on top. Then you put the vanilla ice cream on top of that, and then whipped cream and hot fudge again. I share my favorite dessert with my mom. Do you share your favorite dessert with anyone you know?
ReplyDeleteKnowing that her and August have the same favorite dessert in common made her feel important. As if she were a part of something bigger then she thought of. Like she was apart of the Boat wright Family. Knowing she had something in common with one of them. My favorite dessert is chocolate ice cream in a sugar cone with rainbow sprinkles whipped cream and a cherry on top. Wow i feel like such a little kid when i say that. Although my brother and both love it. guess it doesn't help that my brother is about to be 20 years old and he loves rainbow sprinkles. aha shh.
ReplyDeleteLily's favorite dessert is peanuts in a coke bottle. She had always felt like an outsider and a weirdo liking this dessert. T.Ray never encouraged adventure in her life which made her feel as bad as she did. But it turns out that August's favorite dessert is also peanuts in a coke bottle! She no longer feels like an outsider and feels at home with the Boatwrites. This is something that the girls bond over. She now feels a sence on family and warmth with the sisters which boosts her confidence level and makes her feel secure in herself and her life. My favorite dessert is chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven. The warm gooey chocolate melts in your mouth is amazing and i love it. It is actually very common to like this dessert, but I don't like it because it is what everyone else likes. I like it because it tastes good.
ReplyDeleteAugust, Rosaleen, and June care alot about Lily and they love her. Lily feels wanted by them and loved by them. She likes to be with them and they like to be with her to. They all get along like a family. Lily feels she has 3 more mothers now. It helps her feel she is lovable and not a mean terrible person. She feels like she is surrounded and with family because they have all grown tighter over the time she has been with them. She likes to think they are all one big family. My favorite dessert is hard vanila ice cream in a waffle bowl with two bannanas, chocolate syrup, nuts, and cherries on top. It is one of the best desserts to eat and it fills you up.
ReplyDeleteThe bonding between August, June, Rosaleen, the daughters of Mary and Lily helped to aid Lilly’s self-confidence and sense of family. This bonding time helped Lilly because Lilly had spent all day with the daughters of Mary and they were all like a huge family. Lilly was starting to feel apart of the big happy family. Lily and August ate their favorite dessert peanuts in a coke bottle with Rosaleen and June. Lilly was feeling love and consolation and it was the most love she has ever received. There were no more hard feelings between June and Lilly and everybody was just happy. This helped aid Lilly’s sense of family because she was learning and experiencing what it was like to be apart of a big happy family. Lilly was starting to feel what it is like to love somebody and what is like to be loved by many people. She loved and was loved by August, Rosaleen, June, Zach, the daughters of Mary and May loved Lilly as well. She finally started to realize that she was not unlovable because so many people loved her and this helped her self-confidence a lot. “I love you,” August said, “ just like I loved you mother.” “All this love coming to me, I didn’t know what to do with it.” Lilly said. Everybody loved Lilly and she has never felt this much love before and it helped her to know that love was surrounding her. Nobody wants to live their life feeling as though they are not loved.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is a warm brownie, right out of the oven with Ben and Jerry’s vanilla ice cream. It is so good and it is always a big treat when I get to eat it. I love it because it is a mix of hot and cold all in one big bite. I also love chocolate and vanilla and it is a little bit of both. The brownie and the vanilla ice cream always leave me wanting more no matter how stuffed I am.
In chapter 11 Lily did a lot of bonding with the "family". She and August shared their favorite dessert, peanuts and coke. After Neil proposed to June and left to get a ring, the others all gossiped about what happened like school girls. "Did you see that kiss?", they said. For Mary Day they fed each other cakes of honey and June feeds Lily one. She also says she is sorry for being so hard on Lily when she first came here. This gives Lily self confidence because June was the only one who didn't except her, and now she does. Being with everyone on Mary Day made Lily feel part of the family, she is wanted there.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert is vanilla pudding. It's good because its light and smooth. I can always eat it no matter what I previously had. I first had it in a buffet and i couldn't stop eating it. When ever my mom buys vanilla pudding from the store it is gone in two days. I like to put cinnamon in it to add more flavor.
In chapter eleven Lily and August share their favorite snack which is peanuts inside the coke. Rose and June look at them like their crazy but August and Lily know what their missing. This makes Lily feel just like August because they have this strange taste for that desert. This makes Lily feel like a normal person because she never would have thought another person would like that as much as she did.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert would be a flan. Flan is like a custard like pastry which is very delicious and melts in your mouth and is truly the best desert in my eyes,
Lily is really starting to bond with all the people in the house. To me, in this story she is practically considered family. Her realationship with the family is growing and she can tell because everyone likes her. When i was a kid whenever my mom made pumpkin pie for a holiday she knew i hated pumpkin pie so, she would always make me a small mini blueberry pie just for me. It just proved how much she loved me.
ReplyDeleteThe bonding in chapter 11 helps aid Lily's self-confidence and sense of family. One moment of bonding was when the Boatwright sisters, the Daughters of Mary, and everyone else was celebrating Mary Day. I believe Lily gained the sense of family with this event, because she thinks she is very lucky to be included in this special holiday. Only people close to the Boatwright sisters would be able to celebrate this with them, and Lily was like family. Another scene of bonding in chapter 11 is when Zach and Lily have a talk near the end of the chapter. Lily tells Zach about one of her horrible life experiences, and she felt confident to tell him. She feels confident overall when she's with him. "I love this place with my whole heart." This is how Lily feels about the Boatwrights' home during Mary Day. This shows how close she is to the sisters, and how much they feel like family to her.
ReplyDeleteLily and August's favorite dessert is peanuts in a Coke bottle. My favorite dessert is vanilla ice cream with strawberry syrup, whipped cream, and banana slices. I love the sweetness of the strawberry syrup with the ice cream, but I like to have variety, by putting in banana slices, which aren't as sweet. This is like how Lily and August like the combination of Coca Cola sweetness and peanut saltiness. I also like the foaminess of the whipped cream on top. This is my favorite dessert for many, many reasons.
