Facebook: Characterization

Anne Frank Facebook: Character
Reading Grade
Due: December 21 or 22nd

Objectives:
ü  Analyze a character’s emotions, interactions, inner thoughts, and conflicts
ü  Quote a character’s words and thoughts accurately from the play and diary text
ü  Use technology to create a  fake “Facebook” page for one character in the play
ü  Provide a page that exhibits all areas of characterization
ü  Locate and use accurate photographs of characters

Project:
Choose a round character from “The Diary of Anne Frank” and develop a fake Facebook page for that person using the template provided (or recreating your own version).  The voice should accurately represent the character’s voice.  Convey not only plot points but show an understanding of how different characters might be experiencing the same events.

Requirements Checklist:
____ Character name: first and last
____ Photograph of the character found online
____ You will also create the profile for a character of your choice.  This profile should include likes, dislikes, education info, favorite quotes, music, books and other details.  Students are encouraged to find details from the text, but also to be creative in choosing new details.  What would be their favorite song?  What would be their favorite book?  What kind of image would they choose to represent them?  What groups would they belong to?  Don’t contradict anything present in the text, but feel free to expand.
____ Four status updates (at least)
____ Five friend comments (at least)
____ Friends
____ An “extra”—bumper stickers, events, photo album, relationship status, etc

THE GRAPHIC ORGANIZER WILL HELP ENSURE THAT YOU COVER ALL THE NECESSARY ELEMENTS BEFORE AND DURING YOUR PROJECT.
