  1. If I would pick a month to be named after, I would choose april because the weather can be very beautiful in april and beuatiful flowers grow. How I would spend the special month is by having free time and going out where I want to

  2. If I could choose any month for my name, I would choose June. I would choose June as my name because of three reasons. First, I would choose June because my birthday is June 17. Second, I love the hot weather, and expecially when I feel it on my skin, It makes me feel hot because I am always cold. Lastly, twords the endo of the month in school we are ready to go to summer because the last day of school is June 17 and there is still a lot to do with the school trip and graduation. I would spend my month relaxing in the hot, sometimes breezy air, laying out on a beach chair. Just relaxing to sum it up.

  3. When you pick a month you want to be named after, you have to think carefully. What's the weather like in the month? Will this month be worth picking? If I could be named after any month I would pick July because of the hot weather. I love being outside when it's warm, but sometimes in can get to what feels like boiling point. In the book, when its your your special month, you are excused from all chores. July is the perfect month for this privilge because July is the hottest month of the year. Being able to excuse myself from chores will give me time to relax and cool down. I would spend this month relaxing and having time to myself. Sitting in the quiet, reading, and going through my thoughts is how I would spend my special month.

  4. If I were to choose a month to be named after I would choose February. that is becuase it is when it snow and snow to me is great and it is beatiful when the snow falls. It also good when we get snow days but other than that it is when you feel the flakes drop it makes you feel alive.

  5. Lily picks October because her intinals are O.O. If I could pick my special month I would pick the month of December. The reason why is because my name starts with a D and December is an amazing month. The reason it is so amazing is we have Chirstmas break, and along with that I would have a week of from school. How great is that no school and my special month. I would spend my special month playing video games until my hands fall off. Video games are just so fun and I can also connect to my friends. I would also stay up for endless hours watching TV, possibly even read a book. Similar to August and how she read on her special month. That is how I would spend my special month. Damon Savastano

  6. Each month has a name, like each person has a name. But what if you were a name... and a month, too? August, May, June, and April are all named after months in the Secret Life of Bees. Each month has special qualities and forms magnificent pictures in my mind's eye, but there is one that stands out.
If I could choose a month to be named after, I it would be August. I was born as a second child on August 2nd, and two is my lucky number. (That, and the old "first is the worst, second is the best" phrase.) I personally love the month August. It is summer, so I don't have to waste my afternoons and weekends holed up in my study. August is when I usually travel out to Long Island to Jones Beach for the day with my cousins, to NYC for a day out, and for a week down to Barnegat Light in LBI. August is a time I can spend with my friends. Even though school is leaning into view towards the end of the month, it is hard not to love the sunsets, water balloon fights, races down the Boardwalk, and jumping on a soapy trampoline with plastic bags tied to your feet. Well, the last one is a game I play with my friends. It is hard not to love how the darkness doesn't come until eight thirty, and watching the thermometer climb upward can only represent summer and August.
I think the name August is really pretty, and when I hear it, I think of all the aspects mentioned above. If my name were August, I would proudly write and sign my name on everything, hoping that whoever sees it depicts sunshine and fun. I have never met a person who doesn't like summer! Summer is a time for family and beaches and pool parties and backyard barbecues. August clearly depicts that for me. I would love to be named after the month in which I was born. August's brightness and exciting-ness also reminds me of, well, me! I am full of laughs, smiles, and fun, and so is August.
In my month, I would not do any hard work. I would only do things I want to do, like read and watch Harry Potter, swim, cheerleading, and I don’t have to worry about school, because I won’t have any! I will have what I want to eat. I would have eggs and bacon in the morning, a nice big sandwich at lunch, chips and salsa for snacks, and a burger and fries for dinner. But not every day! I would go running when it was sunny and stay inside when it was rainy. I would stay up late and wake up late. I could lounge around in my pj’s all day or hold a party and dress up. My month would be great!
To be named after a month must mean a lot to April, May, June, and August Boatwright. Personally, I would take after the eldest sister, and rename myself with the month I love most.

  7. If I could be named after a moth I would want to be named after July because we still have a lot of summer left and it's still kind of the beginning of the Summer. It's so warm and everyone is not extremely white anymore. We don't have school anymore and it's still not close to school season. We have a long time left of summer and we don't have any anxiety of school coming. In my special month I would party a lot and have fun.

  8. Each name has its own unique and special quality some names are lengthy and some are short, some even take after something the whole country knows! That name can be a month. Although my name doesn't start with a letter of the months or is a month itself, I would like to be named July. I would like to be named July because that months is a very nice month in real life. The month is in the middle of summer and it’s when everyone is settled in from school and having fun with friends and family in awesome temperatures. Not only is it a good month to play in, it’s also holding an important date for the USA July 4th. I would also liked to be named July because I always go to the beach in July and have fun with my couch as I sit on it playing XBOX. Because it’s in July and I had my special month in summer? That would be the equivalent to not sleeping at all. I would spend it as staying up late each night playing XBOX or my computer to play. Or just go to the mall with my friends a lot and watch some movies to entertain myself. My month of July would be so amazing and special because it would be my name, it’s in summer, and my special month would be awesome.

  9. what would your name be if it was the name of a month? Mine would be July. now you might be thinking why. It's because i love summer. The boatwright sisters August, June, May and April are all named after months. If i were name July i would spend it in place with a trpical climate with all my friends. we would have parties. We would also have to celebrate my two cousins birthdays and my brothers birthday as well.Being in the summer it always hot weather great for having fun and staying out late. Being named after a month can possibly bring people to think very highly of thereself. The four Sisters must have felt highly of themselves as well. I bet it means a lot to them. it would sure mean a lot to me, i know that for sure.

  10. The "Calendar Sister" are each named after a month and they have their month. If I were to have my own month to be named after, it would be July. My birthday is the 17th of July and seven, the months number is my lucky number. Also, it is basically in the middle of summer. It isn't too close to school, but it isn't too far away from it. Our yearly Birney Picnic (a family reunion)that takes place in Massasspequa, Long Island is usually on or around my birthday, so I get see my cousins for my birthday. My ideal July day would be just hanging out with friends, swimming happily in the pool and enjoying the day. To be named after a month is special to the Boatwright sisters, and I would be glad to have one too. It would actually be pretty awesome!

  11. Like people, each month is special and different. If I were to be named after any month, it would March. The month of March is a very confusing one. Take the other week for example; on Friday is was seventy degrees, and on Monday it snowed. My mood is like March's weather; always changing. The month of March can be warm and comforting, a precursor of the summer that is to come. That's how I feel most of the time, always looking to the future, and typically. I love those spring nights that you can go out and have fun with friends, and all you think is how amazing the summer will be. I have been compared to the sun; always happy and bright. However, in March, you can always get that cold streak. I can be cruel sometimes, sometimes when on purpose, sometimes not. Also, I can get upset easily at times. When it's March, you just never know what you're going to get. I would spend my month exactly how I liked. I would surrounded by my friends when it's warmer and not have a care in the world. When it's colder, I might want to be alone more, and then I would spend time inside with my sister perhaps reading or just listening to music. No matter what, there would always, always be music playing. Specifically the music I like because my family and the majority of my friends don;t like the music I do. If i had a whole month to myself, I would make sure I made the best of it.

  12. If I could pick a month to be named after, that month would be August. August is my favorite month because it is when i am in Croatia. Also because there are twice more tourists there in that month than any other. I hate the months when there are no people there because there is really absolutely nothing to do there.
Another reason why I want to be named August is because it sounds really tough. A women I picture with the name August has to be very strong, tough, and needs knows how to take control. Which I picture myself like that. Also In the month of August there are so many Parties to go to, celebrations and traditions to celebrate for me. On the Island where my mom is from in Croatia, we have this traditional celebration for Velika Gospa. Velika Gospa is a celebration in only our island and in Dubrovnik, a city in Croatia.
On my Birthday month I would want to go all around the world and party in every county. Basicaly I am taking a brake from everyone and going to relax. I would have to do no work all day because I am really hard working during that month. I help my Grandma with her Restuarant. I wake up every morning at five to go fishing and come back around nine in the morning. Then I clean, cook, become the waiter, and sometimes when I have time take the little fishing boat and go by myself for a swim on another island. With all that I also help my relatives with their resturants. This happens every day it mainly gets exhausting. This is why I be named August and relax on my birthday month.

  13. If I were named after a month I would want it to be June. The main reason being that it's warm and there is zero chance of snow. But, it is also a fun month in school. There's feild day which is fun because we get to skip school and swim all day. Then there's the eighth grade feild trip to Baltimore which everyone is looking foward to. Finally, it's a shorten month (shool day wise) so it goes by fast unlike the other 9. And when schools out... summer vacation begins or as I like to say the first day of freedom! Summer vacation is very important to me because I get to spend time with my family and friends on a more regular basis. It's a time to catch up and reconnect without having to worry about getting home to study for a test. But if it were up to me, one of the only things I would do during my special month is go to camp. It is the most fun activity that I could ever think of and it's all I ever want to do. But of course all of my best camp friends would have to be there in order for it to be totally awesome. Another thing that I would also like to do during my special month is to have karate every day because I get such an adreniline rush that keeps me going for hours. It would give me time to correct the little mistakes that bug me. June is full of happiness and fun, it's one of my favorite months for many reasons.

  14. April is a time of rebirth. A new beginning when the flowers begin to poke up their leafy heads and the bees bring a chorus of buzzing to the world. I would like to have been named after this month. April is living proof that people and things can change, for the better. During the month of April I would sit and read out in the sun all day long, drinking refreshing glasses of iced tea. I would gorge myself on chocolate and go on shopping sprees... for books! I would spend hours writing, and trying to get my measly pieces published. If only I knew how. I would hang out with my friends and take long bubble baths in my jacuzzi bathtub, which would totally be fixed and in perfect working order... I would also spend my time stalking people and attempting to sketch them while at the park or the pool. What a great month it would be...

  15. On page 137, lily picks October because that was her mothers birth month. I would pick May. Even though that is not really a guys name I would pick it because I was born that month and it has nice weather new flowers and spring showers. I would spend this month by everyday of May sitting outside for an hour or doing my home work outside. I would also devote that month to making my garden nice, work on it once a week by buying new flowers and watering them. I would hike and ride my bike for exercise.

  16. The Boatwright sisters all have names from a calendar. If my name had to be a month I would pick the month of May. I would pick the month of May not because of May Boatwright but I would pick May for many other various reasons. I would choose the month of May because a lot of nice and happy things are going on in May. In May the weather is starting to get warmer and the temperature is warm but not too humid. It is the perfect weather because the sun is out and it’s nice and its usually in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I would also pick may because I think that May is a very pretty month because all the flowers are starting to bloom and I love the smell of all the fresh flowers, grass and trees. I would not only pick May for it good weather and pretty flowers but I would also choose May because it is a fun month for me. In May I play lacrosse and soccer, which are two sports that I love! May is also close to the summer and school is almost out. Things are starting to slow down and many fun things are happening. May is a month that makes me happy just thinking about it!
If I could spend my month anyway I wanted I would do all my favorite things, be around my favorite people and eat my favorite foods. During the month of May I would eat penne al vodka, I would have steak one night, and I would have a piece of dark chocolate with every meal. I would also eat chocolate chip pancakes and waffles for breakfast. I would eat turkey sandwiches with cheese, lettuce, tomato and oil and vinegar. I would also eat pretzels because I love them and I can t forget cookie dough ice cream with sour patch kids. I would hang out with my friends and each week we would do something really fun or extra adventurous. I would also play my favorite sports, soccer and lacrosse. It would also be nice to have a day to just relax and hang out with my family and we would all watch a movie. Not to mention I would also like to stay up a little later each night and alternate between a really good book and drawing or painting a picture. It would also be nice to designate and hour each day to just relax and relieve all the stress from the day. This month would be busy but I would be busy with fun things so it would be an extremely fun month.

  17. To be honest i don't know what month i would want my name to be. Probably i would choose december. December is a different and unique name. I don't know anyone named december. I would celebrate in my month there is so much going on in december like christmas, New Years, and its just a fun month. i mean who doesnt like december? December is one of the best months.

  18. On page 137, Lily decides if she could have picked a month to be named for, she'd have selected October and gives her reasons. If I were to be named after a month, and could choose which one based on my personalities and likings I would choose February.
I would choose February for simple reasons along with complicated reasons. First of all, my half birthday is in February, which is the same birthday as my best friend. Also I LOVE the winter. The cool, crisp air that just whirls around you. It is like ice in a gas form just floating around you. My best memories always come during the winter. I always go on the best vacations, visit my family members, and enjoy time with friends. Snow tubing is one of the highlights of winter. Going down the hill, feeling like your racing in a car. The feel like you’re a penguin sliding down a hill. Every February my family and I gather at my grandparent’s house to go sleigh riding. In their backyard there is a massive hill, with a river at the end. The hill is extremely steep so we go very fast. My uncles, my dad, and my cousin would all line up at the top of the hill and race to the end. We always end up in the river soak and wet, than come inside for hot coco. It’s our winter ritual. I love February!

  19. To have a name that everyone writes down every eleven months is awesome, isn't it? Well everyone will know your name indirectly because they don't know who you are. If I had to pick any month of the year, I would pick December. Generally speaking, many people would want to be called December becuase of memories, holidays, and fun.
December has many holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and most importantly, my birthday. Who wouldn't like celebrating with your family Christmas and eating turkey, mash potatoes, and stuffing. If you don't celebrate Christmas, then you get gifts for eight days in Hanukkah or celebrate Kwanzaa. December includes my birthday which makes this month extra special since I get birthday money and a cake. With all this in mind, who wouldn't like to be named December.
December includes many of my best memories. During times of snow, I would go out with my younger siblings and have a huge snowball fight. Since i was more experienced that my siblings, i would make better snowballs and a better fort. One time, I flung the ball at them and watch the ball travel towards them like it was in slow mo. Before they could even move, the snowball would pat their coat and resulting them to fall down since I, without a doubt, was stronger than them. We would be at this for at least an hour and then finally go in for a cup of mouthwatering hot chocolate.
Spending some family time and going out in the snow makes December not only my favorite month, but a lot of people's favorite. as, a result of being my favorite month, I would pick December as a month to be named after. What month would you be named after? Hopefully it would be December like me.

  20. The stifling weather and the sun in my face are a few of its best days. Cooling down in the pool with the loud sounds of splashing water is how I make the heat work. Fooling around with all my friends enjoying sweet cold treats such as ice cream and ice pops, have us begging for more wonderful days like this one. I picked this month not only because it is my birthday month, but a month that gives us a break from all the pressures of school, work, and homework. Because all you teachers know we love that work so much. Next, my amazing month beats all the rest because it is the end of the school year, during the last month which includes all the fun activities like the school trip, field day at Darlington, and graduation of Ramapo Ridge Middle School. My month name is June.

  21. After reading what happened to August when the month of August came around, I actually made a text-to-self connection and asked myself what month i would like to be named. I came up with April. My birthday is in April, and although the weather may not be bright sunshine all the time, I don't mind a little rain. The end of school is right around the corner, and everybody seems to be in a good mood. I am a big fan of reading, so with that extra hour of doing whatever my heart desires, i would love to read. I would kick my feet up on the ottoman and read for the full hour. I would ask for freshly made pancakes for breakfast every morning, and I would go hang out with my friends outside everyday after school. April would be a great month to be named after.

  22. If I were to be named after a month, I would choose November. I have always loved the weather in November; not to cold, but not to warm, and not so much winter, but still not so much Autumn. Also, My birthday is in November so the month is personally special to me. November is the 11th month which also happens to be my lucky number. I would spend my special month by inviting my friends over every two days to watch movies and watch Tv. I would have sushi for dinner every night and would skateboard with my friends.

  23. If I could pick a month to be named after, I would choose July. I would pick July because the 4th is a very special day for our country and plus I really like fireworks. Also the month of July is very nice and almost peaceful, weather wise. It’s not too hot, but it’s not too cold. And that’s just what I like. For instance in August, it’s so hot, it becomes unbearable. The one thing that I hate the most is not being comfortable. Plus if my name was June I wouldn’t be able to spend the month how I want because there’s school. That brings me to how I want to spend my special month. I would want to spend the month of July hanging with my friends to whatever time I want. But one thing I would have to have is to be at the beach. I would not be able to enjoy my special month if I wasn’t at the beach. The beach I would choose is any one down at the Jersey shore. It would have to be at the Jersey shore because first of all I love the Jersey shore and second of all the Jersey Shore if filled with WAWA’s. WAWA is like a 7-11, but better. Also the Jersey shore is a lot of fun on the 4th of July because everyone lights fireworks, including my dad. The other thing that is in July is travel softball and I love playing with my friends and having fun at softball!

  24. I was born in the month of May, but if there was ever a month that I wanted to be named after/honored in, it would be March. March, the first month of spring, the month where death gives way to life and the frozen white of snow melts to reveal a vivid green of grass, while the cherry trees blossom and pleasant (and sometimes unpleasant) fragrances fill the air. March, the beginning of the rebirth of the year over, when bears, deer, and all hibernating animals alike emerge from their silent shelters to drive back the frost of winter and embrace the blossoms of spring. In March, all people will emerge from their homes, revel in the glorious sunlight (not clouds), and remember me.

How would I spend MY month? Well, it is MY month, and I have MY own values and interests, so if it were to truly be MY month, it would be a month of laziness and being fat. I would revel in the glorious sunshine of spring in the private and comfortable confines of my own home, likely reclining most pleasantly on a couch watching Stephen Colbert or Tosh.0 on Comedy Central. No work whatsoever, and an eager troop of unpaid servants ready to serve and feed me.

  25. Lily said that if she were to be named after a month, it would be October. If I were to be named after a month, I would personally want to be named July. I would want to be named July because I absolutely love the summer, July is when the weather is nice and hot, and I also love it because there is no rush, to get ready for the next school year.
First, I would want to be named after July because I am in love with summer. I it was possible, I would marry summer, but obviously that cannot happen. Summer is when my family and I enjoy our summer vacations, I learn new skills in gymnastics, and after 5 hours of gymnastics, I could just lay on the lounge chair, next to my pool. I think that the world shouldn’t have 4 seasons, I should have one, which is summer. During the month of July, I feel very relaxed, and I feel that I could just have fun.
Another reason why I would want to be named after the month of July is because I hate cold weather. I mean it is okay when it rains in spring, but I’d rather hot weather. I no that it is harder to keep cool in the summer, but just wearing so much clothes (layering) is very annoying. If I could, I would just wear sundresses and sandals every day. It is so nice when it is a nice summer day, we invite people over for a bbq and to swim, and we just enjoy ourselves. I love it at night. At night it cools down a little bit, and is the best.
Lastly, July is right in the middle of summer. Who wants to worry about school in the middle of summer? Nobody. When it comes to August, kids start to worry about their next school year, and their schedules. July is no time to worry about school. I love just the relaxed feeling I get during the summer.
I would want to be named after the month of July because, I love summer, I love the hot weather, and I don’t worry about school.

  26. If I could pick a month to be named after I pick October too. Mostly because it is my favourite month of the year and it's the beginning of autumn. The fiery trees, and the crisp cool air. I just love it. I would spend my special month by wandering outside and exploring in the woods, observing the beautiful changes around me. I would take pictures to capture every little detail in the leaves, the grass, the sky.
