Does thy life destroy.

  1. This poem represents Deborah's life by saying shes been "infected" with saddness and hate in her current position. If you make the worm T-Ray then the poem is saying T-Ray has infected her life and destroyed it. He's a desiese you don't want to catch. Deborah is the rose, sayinf she's a "crimson joy" until T-Ray comes in.
Lily hates T-Ray: Utterly HATES him. It's actually funny if you compare this quote to the poem: "I am stil waiting for joy to show up." Joy is like the rose, aka Deborah. She left Lily but Lily still still doesn't believe for a second she left her. She's waiting for joy.

  2. This poem relates to both Lily and Deborah's life. The poem says the invisible worm that flies at night. This relates to the characters because Lily cis like an invisible worm, nobody notices her for who she is, besides the Boatrights. Deborah can also be like an invisible worm because Lily wants to know who and what she looks like, but she does not know anything about her nor what she looks like. This is how the poem can realte to Lily and Deborah's lives.

  3. This relates to Deborah because in the poem, Deborah dies because of love. She loved Lily and she was coming back to get her until she died. I have a feeling that she was happy to die and finally be away from T-Ray. However, she did not want to leave Lily behind.
This poem also relates to Lily because she is invincible like a worm sneaking away from T-Ray. She flies away from her old nest and goes to a new one, a better more understanding one.

  4. This poem is very much like Lily's moms life. This is true because her life was bittersweet. She did have a dark secret love. She had a dark secret love because T.Ray was her love but he was also dark at the same time. This poem applies to Lily too. It does because she is like she has found crimson joy. Lily has found crimson joy because when she is with Zach she is so happy with him. Also when she is with the Boatwright's she is very happy too.

  5. This poem found in Debrahs book says alot about debrahs life before she died. The verse, "The invisisble worm, that flie sin the night, in the howling storm," describes lilys arrival. Debrah and T-Ray did not expect to have Lilly as a daughter. The next statement, Has found out thy bed of crimson joy, And this dark secret love does thy life destroy," describes the difficulty Debrah had gone through when Lilly was born. Debrah found out that she was having a baby just as she and T-Ray were having difficulties in their relationship. When Debrah found out she was pregnent, she had no choice but to marry T-Ray, even though she did not want to. This poem also describes lilys life. The fiirst verse describes how lily has always longed for a mother figure and to learn more about her deceased mother, Debrah. The secound verse, describes Lilys life ter she had the conversation with August and learned her mothers story. It describes how the truth about her mother ruined her feelings towards her.

  6. After Lily reads The Sick Rose, she thinks, "I wanted nothing so much as to tell her how sorry I was for being one of the invisible worms that flew in the night."

  7. The rose would be Deborah and the worm would be T-Ray. T-Ray has been blinded by his love and cannot let go. Deborah can either leave or let his love and her present life eat away at her until she loses the will to live.
Debora's past is the worm that eats away at her. Quickly spiraling into depression, her mother's actions push her to the very limit. Lily cannot stand the thought that she was abandoned and she can't look past that to see that her mother really did love her. She did come back after all. What also eats away at her is the fact that she caused her mother's death. She feels much guilt and pain over that.
